With a little over a week left until the release of Magna Carta Holy Grail, the anticipation continues to build for Jay-Z’s new project. During a recent interview withVIBE Magazine on his new partnership with Monster, Swizz Beatz (accompanied by Monster CEO Noel Lee) spoke on the studio sessions with Jay-Z, the goal to appease fans of vintage Jay-Z while pushing music forward, and changing how music is released.
“Jay is just ahead of the times. I’ve been working with Jay for 17 years now— which is crazy because I’m only 34. This album represents Jay. It’s like… how do give somebody something authentic that they can go back pull from and give them something that’s ahead of its time? I think he summed that up very well. When you hear someone’s album, you always want to go back to the classics. You always have that hunger of ‘Man, why didn’t he didn’t he just… Man, he’s supposed to…’ It’s always going to be that. For the first time in a long time I think someone solved that problem and I think he did that with this album. “
Available now for download, fans can get the Magna Carta app over at Google Play. Due on July 4, Samsung will release 1 million free copies of Magna Carta Holy Grail to Galaxy S III, Galaxy S 4, and Note II owners.
