Last night (June 30), Mariah Carey and guests Miguel and Young Jeezy graced the 2013 BET Awards stage with a live rendition of “Beautiful.” Primped and pressed like a diva and surrounded by golden lights, the former American Idol judge hit her signature high notes, leaving many to wonder if she was faking the funk or giving us the real deal.
Hoping to put any rumors to rest, Nick Cannon promised viewers that Mariah’s performance would turn the stage “into a club” and be “all her.”
“My wife is a perfectionist and clearly because she’s done it right all her life. So she actually puts a lot of work into these performances. There’s no management helping make decisions. Everything you see is all her, whether it’s a collaboration when the lights hit, how she enters, she’s doing all of that,” Carey’s husband told E! News on the red carpet.
This isn’t the first time Mariah’s been caught in lip syncing controversy. Earlier this year, many accused the veteran of faking her way through a medley of greatest hits during the Idol finale.
